Big Bang Comics, it's good for what ails ya! Well, okay, but it doesn't make it any worse, either! AAAAND it's entertaining! I recommend starting with Big Bang Adventures #8, just like yer ole' buddy, JR! From there, flail about in random directions and read whatever you can get your hands on!

J.R. LOFLIN reviews BIG BANG COMICS # 1, the CALIBER one: ![]()
"Time to go back to the very beginning. To the Big Bang! Big Bang Comics, that is! Today, I'll be reviewing Big Bang Comics #1 from Caliber Press.![]()
How delightful it would have been to have been at the beginning of the Golden Age of comics, when everything was fresh and new. I can daydream about that moment, because I have read this book, and it takes me back to a simpler time, a more fun time, when adventures were adventures, stories were stories, and Knights were Watchmen!![]()
So, yeah, the first tale is very clearly a Batman/Joker tale, but I love the original twists and spins on this iteration. BBC's Joker is honestly more like Clayface and has his own agenda. I wish I could look at old comics from the Golden Age and see crisp clear art that pops off the page and is not weathered by time. This was a dream come true and a delight to read.![]()
The Op the Cop comic strip was a cute gem that I feel may have been overlooked by readers of the time, but I thought was a real hoot to read. I miss the little one-page funny strips like these, so kudos to Gary Carlson for not only remembering they exist, but executing one of them perfectly!![]()
The Badge and his Rookies are an interesting concept and character. I would like to see more of them, though perhaps outside the wartime setting. Period comics are difficult to write, especially when dealing with racial issues. I feel that it was handled with care, but there was a line or two that I didn't care for, due to the "period racism," I still don't know quite how I feel about the story as a whole as a result. But I do like the heroes and would like to see more of them.![]()
OOH, THUNDER GIRL AD!!!!! GIMME!!!!!![]()
Venus was a delight to read, a fun story that really moved along quickly and was over before I knew it (AND before I wanted it to be!)![]()
Finally, I like that a text story was included! The Beacon was also new to me, but I love the old-school feel to the story and text. Nice touch!"![]()
Overall, another winner of an issue! It's nice to see you guys started off strong!
