The fourth and final Big Bang “try-out” story appeared in the back-up slot of Berzerker #4 in December 1993. By then we were planning and starting to create what would become the original Big Bang Comics mini-series from Caliber Press, in which we would establish the Golden, Silver and Modern Ages of the Big Bang universe.

Big Bang Chronological Part 7: Berzerker #3 and the Dr. Weird Special
Berzerker was selling well enough for Gauntlet Comics/Caliber Press, Vanguard was starting its run at Erik Larsen’s Highbrow Studios at Image Comics, the Megaton Christmas Special was set to be published (in color) by Don Chin’s Entity Comics later in the year, and Big Bang Comics was in the process of being promoted from the back-up slot in Berzerker to its own series and imprint at Caliber Press.
Big Bang Chronological Part 6: Berzerker #2: Ultiman
Ultraman, the Ultimate Human Being first appeared in Megaton #1 in 1983. Both he and his buddy the Crusader appeared in that first issue mainly to pass the torch to the next generation of heroes that were to be the stars in the Megaton Universe. In fact, Ultraman blew up in that issue and his powers passed on to his daughter.

As I mentioned in part 3 of this so far “pre history” of Big Bang Comics, my Megaton Publishing ended in 1987. I really needed a break and didn’t even think about comics for a while. While a number of Megaton alumni went on to Marvel, DC, First Comics and more, I was happy to remodel my house and add a dormer to the upstairs.
